Conductor
Born in Parma, he studied viola, composition and conducting at the conservatory «A. Boito» in Parma.
He was assistant conductor of Piero Bellugi, Donato Renzetti and Jaques Delacotein.
In 1987 he founded the «Italian Piano Quartet» with which he has performed at the «Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi», at the «Lygon Arts Festival» in Melbourne, at the «Carnegie Hall» in New York, at the «Kleine Musikhalle» in Hamburg, at the «Sankt Petersburg Philharmonic» and at the «Dixon Gallery» in Memphis.
In 1998 he was appointed principal conductor of the Orchestra Das Beiras (Portugal). From 1999 to 2003, at Luis Alva's invitation, he was musical director of «Associazione Prolirica Perù», where he conducted operas and concerts such as «Turandot», «Tosca», «Falstaff», «Il Barbiere di Siviglia», «Aida», «Rigoletto», «Messa di Gloria» by G. Puccini, «Messa da Requiem» by G. Verdi, the 9th Symphony by L. v. Beethoven and so on. In 2003 he got the Peruvian «Cavaliere della Repubblica» award for his artistic merits. The year after he was appointed musical adviser of the Massimo Theatre in Palermo where he conducted Bizet's «Carmen». For AS.LI.CO. Milan he conducted in 2004 «L'Elisir D'Amore», in 2005 «I Capuleti e i Montecchi», in 2007 «Madama Butterfly» and in 2008 «Turandot». In 2008 he conducted the La Scala Academy Orchestra on tour in the Arabian Emirates. Since 2005 he is chief conductor of the orchestra «Roma Tre Orchestra».
His vast repertoire includes rarely performed works such as «La Passione di Gesù Cristo» by Salieri, performed in Brno (Czech Republic), and contemporary works like «Il Filo, Freddo» and «We Like Mozart» by Michele Dall'Ongaro, «L'Opera delle filastrocche» by Virgilio Savona, «Oratorio» by Maurizio Fabrizio and «Missa Andina» by Alejandro Nuñez Allauca.
In 2009, on occasion of the 150th Italian Unification Celebration, he conducted the RAI National Symphony Orchestra in Turin.
Recently he conducted «La Traviata» in Carpi and Fidenza (Italy), the ballet «Napoli, zompa e vola» at the San Carlo Theatre in Naples, music by Beethoven, Takemitsu, Solbiati, Brahms, Mozart, Britten, Schönberg, Puccini with the «Roma Tre Orchestra» orchestra at the Palladium Theatre in Rome, «Peter and the wolf» and Haydn's «Farewell Symphony» with La Scala Academy Orchestra at MITO festival in Milan, music by Xenakis, Frank Zappa and Scelsi at the Biennale in Venice, music by Marco Betta at the «Festival Sinopoli» in Taormina (Italy).
Among his future engagements: the concert «new voices» with Orchestra RAI Turin, concert with Ute Lemper and music by Pergolesi at Teatro San Carlo in Naples, «Tosca» in Pompei and «La Traviata» in the theaters of Cremona, Brescia, Como and Pavia.
