Nofar Yacobi

Nofar Yacobi is the 1st Prize winner of the Rita Gorr International Opera Contest 2022 and the 1st Prize winner of the Spazio Musica International Singing Competition 2021. 

Nofar is an alumna of the Israeli Opera Meitar Studio Program (2015/2017), the Calgary Opera Emerging Artist Program (2017/2018), and the Rebanks Family Fellowship & International Performance Residency Program at The Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory in Toronto (2018/2019). She graduated from the Buchman-Mehta School of Music at the Tel-Aviv University and received the AICF (America Israel Cultural Foundation), the Buchman-Mehta and the Eli Leon scholarships, as well as the Sir Jack Lyons Charitable Trust and the Azrieli Foundation sponsorships.

She recently made her debut with the role of Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte in Barrie Kosky’s Komische Oper Berlin co-production with the Israeli Opera and with the role of Najade in Ariadne auf Naxos in Paul Curran's new co-production of Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Massimo of Palermo and Teatro La Fenice of Venice.

In the season 2022/2023 Nofar made her debut at the Volksoper Wien as Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte under the baton of Maestro Omer Meir Wellber.

She recently performed the roles of Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Gilda in Rigoletto and Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Her operatic repertoire includes Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Oscar in Un Ballo in Maschera, Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica, Madame Herz in Der Schauspieldirektor, Despina in Così fan Tutte, Zerlina in Don Giovanni and others.

Her recent engagements include performances at the Israeli Opera, Koerner Hall, the Canadian Opera Company, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the Eilat Chamber Music Festival, the Abu-Gosh Music Festival, the 21C New Music Festival, the Toronto Jewish Music Festival, and the Spazio Musica Festival.

In concert Nofar performed with the Calgary Opera, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Haifa Symphony Orchestra, the Ra’anana Symphonette Orchestra, the Israel Symphony Rishon-LeZion Orchestra, the Toronto Academy Chamber Orchestra, the Glenn Gould New Music Ensemble and more.

She recorded for Disney Pictures the Hebrew version of Beauty and the Beast (2017), and is the creator of the Musical Solidarity Project, in collaboration with RAI (Italian National Public TV), involving 500 musicians and 55 opera houses and cultural institutions worldwide as a musical response to the global covid pandemic.

Among her future engaments Olympia in Les Contes d'Hoffmann at the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich and Amore in Orfeo ed Euridice at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.
